Dear chrissyrynveld,
Emergency contraception (EC) contains hormones found in birth control pills. So certain brands of birth control pills may also be used as emergency contraception. This
chart can show you how.
EC is a safe and effective way to prevent pregnancy
after you have unprotected intercourse. Emergency contraception is sometimes called the "morning-after" pill, backup birth control, or by the brand name Plan B. It is a form of birth control, not abortion.
Plan B is available over the counter at many pharmacies to women and men over 18. Teens under 18 can still get EC with a prescription.
EC must be started within 120 hours five days
after unprotected intercourse.
The sooner it is started, the more effective it will be.
Hope this information helps!
Take care,
