Your Question:
Dear Experts,
I heard that saliva kills sperm? Is this true? and if so dose giving a blowjob before intercourse prevent pregnacy?
BrainfoodGary, 07.02.08
The Answer:
Dear BrainfoodGary, No. Saliva can impair some sperm, but not enough to prevent fertilization of an egg. Saliva is not a form of birth control, and oral sex before vaginal intercourse will not prevent pregnancy. Pregnancy can happen when ejaculate or pre-ejaculate gets in the vagina or on the vulva, whether or not saliva has been used as a lubricant. Teens who are sexually active need to make choices about birth control in advance.
