Your Question:
Dear Experts,
I just got my period and i have been having it for six days now and I am getting scared. Is that to long to be having you period?
Tennisstar, 04.28.08
The Answer:
Dear Tennisstar,
Periods usually last from three to seven days. Sometimes the length of a girl's period changes from month to month, and that's normal.
It can take a while for a girl's body to adjust to hormone changes and begin to "run" smoothly and regularly. She might have a light flow or a heavy flow, the length of the flow may vary, or her periods might be late. She might even skip some months. Usually, a young woman's periods and cycles become more regular as she grows older.
Hope this information helps!
Take care,
