Your Question:

Dear Experts,

will antibiotic reduce sperm count

alangar

The Answer:

Dear alangar,

It's possible that taking certain antibiotics will have an affect on a guy's sperm count. If so, they may lower a guy's sperm count temporarily, but the same antibiotics may be used to increase a man's sperm count by treating conditions that have lowered them. And some antibiotics may not affect a guy's sperm count at all.

There are other things that can lower sperm count temporarily, such as wearing underwear that's too tight or spending time in steam rooms, hot tubs, or saunas. However, these are not reliable birth control methods. Millions of sperm are released during ejaculation, so even a lowered sperm count can produce plenty of sperm to cause a pregnancy.

Hope this information helps!

Take care,
