Your Question:

Dear Experts,

i know there are condoms that make you last longer during sex. Is it true that it numbs your penis and that your partner gets numb as well so at the end none of us feel anything at all?

jorge33

The Answer:

Dear jorge33,

There are condoms that are coated with a mild numbing medication. They are designed for men who ejaculate sooner than they want to. They do reduce sensation, but they do not stop sensation. The coating is on the inside of the condom so it is unlikely to affect a man's partner very much.

Men who want to last longer can usually do it on their own. They can change their technique to include more stopping and starting and other kinds of sex play.

People have different experiences with condoms and sensation. Some people find that get they more sensation when using latex condoms. Different brands of condoms may produce different sensations — partners may want to try out different kinds to see what they like best. Also, adding a few drops of water-based lubricant (like K-Y jelly or Astroglide) to the inside of the condom can increase sensation.

Some men prefer female condoms to latex condoms because they can be less restricting to the penis, and they don't require a man to maintain his erection during sex. Both male and female condoms reduce the risk of sexually transmitted infections as well as pregnancy.

Hope this information helps!

Take care,
