Your Question:

Dear Experts,

i am 16 and want to have sex with my boyfriend for the first time but i am nervous because i have a lot of hair down their and i dont know how he will react

iamanangryhorse

The Answer:

Dear iamanangryhorse,

Many teens are embarrassed about their bodies during puberty, when changes are taking place. You might try talking to your parents or another trusted adult, such as an older sibling, about your feelings about your pubic hair. You might also consider talking to your boyfriend about your feelings. In order for relationships to have value, there must be good communication and honesty. And you never know — there may be things about your boyfriend that make him nervous, too.

Whether a woman chooses to shave, trim, or remove pubic hair is ultimately a personal choice. In no way do women have to shave (or remove) their pubic hair. Shaving in such sensitive areas can lead to razor burn and ingrown hairs. However, some women choose to shave or use other methods (such as waxing) to remove pubic hair for cosmetic reasons. If a woman chooses to shave (or remove) her pubic hair, the amount that is removed is up to her.

Hope this information helps!

Take care,
