Your Question:

Dear Experts,

I'm 17 years old. I found some little white bumps around the shaft of my penis and on my scrotum. They don't hurt at all, but are kinda embarrassing. If I squeeze them, white stuff comes out. Is this bad?

Reprieval

The Answer:

Dear Reprieval,

Some guys have bumps called "pearly penile papules" on their penises, which are normal growths that appear around the base of hair follicles. Also, another fairly common condition is infection of the sebaceous glands, or simply put, pimple-like growths. Both conditions are not unusual, but it is best to be evaluated by a clinician to determine a diagnosis and treatment, if any is necessary.

It could be that you picked up an infection that causes genital warts or some other growth, such as molluscum contagiosum, which might appear in similar ways. But only a clinician can diagnose you and let you know for sure.

For confidential testing you can call toll-free 1-800-230-PLAN. Your local Planned Parenthood can also refer you to other qualified health care providers for screening and treatment of sexually transmitted infections.

Hope this information helps!

Take care,
