Your Question:

Dear Experts,

If I masturbate every day will I run out of sperm?

Eliteraj

The Answer:

Dear Eliteraj,

No. Masturbating or ejaculating every day will not make a man run out of sperm. The time when sperm is first produced is called spermarche. After spermarche, men's bodies make sperm all their lives, and new sperm develop every minute. Some studies have shown that the more often a man ejaculates, the more sperm he develops, which explains why men never use up all their sperm.

Sperm are made in the testicles. There are millions in every drop of healthy semen — the fluid containing sperm that is ejaculated during sexual excitement. The sperm move from the testicles to the seminal vesicles through tubes called the vas deferens. In the seminal vesicles, they mix with other fluids to form semen.

During sexual excitement, sperm move out of the testes and into the urethra through tubes called the epididymis. They mix with several fluids to produce semen, which comes out of the penis through the urethra when a man ejaculates. Usually, a teaspoonful to a tablespoonful of semen is released with each ejaculation. Each time a guy ejaculates, his semen contains about 300 million sperm. It only takes one sperm to cause pregnancy.

Hope this information helps!
