Your Question:

Dear Experts,

Does shaving cause body hair to grow back even faster and thicker?

serenity101

The Answer:

Dear serenity101,

No, that is a myth. Shaving not does affect how quickly hair grows or how thick it grows in.

Like any other method of hair removal, shaving has its pros and cons. On one hand, shaving is easy and inexpensive. Disposable razors and shaving cream only cost a few dollars.

On the other hand, hair grows back quickly after shaving and often forms scratchy stubble. Some people experience ingrown hairs and itchiness as the hair grows back. Shaving pubic hair can sometimes cause a bikini line infection. Some people have allergic reactions to shaving gels. And of course, it's important to be very careful if using a razor on delicate areas to avoid cuts.

Whether someone chooses to shave, trim, or remove body hair is ultimately a personal choice, and it's usually done for cosmetic reasons. If people choose to trim their body hair, the amount they decide to remove is up to them.

Hope this information helps!

Take care,
