Your Question:
Dear Experts,
After the surgical abortion, are you able to just go along with your daily routine? If you are in athletics that is?

The Answer:
Dear breegrl10,
Vacuum aspiration and/or dilation and curettage (D&C) are the most common abortion procedures. They are sometimes referred to as in-clinic abortion. They are performed up to 14 weeks after a woman's last period. More than 90 percent of abortions occur during this time. A woman can usually return to her normal activities the day after vacuum aspiration or D&C also after the abortion pill. Some health care providers recommend avoiding strenuous exercise or lifting for two to five days after an abortion. Recovery from abortions after 14 weeks may take longer.
The day a woman has an abortion, she may experience cramps. She may want to relax the rest of the day. She should not drive home after the abortion if she's had sedation. She can shower as soon as she wants to after an abortion, but she shouldn't take baths, douche, or use vaginal medications that day.
Hope this information helps!
Take care,
