Your Question:
Dear Experts,
I had genital warts and my OBGYN burned them off. It's been about a month now will I ever be able to have sex or receive oral sex again?

The Answer:
Dear countrygurl85,
Yes, you will. Genital warts are caused by certain types of HPV (human papilloma virus). Transmission of genital warts is more likely when a person is having an outbreak of warts, although it is possible for HPV to be transmitted when warts are not present. Warts may be uncomfortable and unsightly, but they are not dangerous.
Transmission can happen through unprotected oral, vaginal, and anal sex, as well as skin-to-skin contact. To reduce the risk of transmission, partners can use a Glyde dam to cover the vulva or anus, or a latex condom to cover the penis. Latex condoms also reduce the risk of transmission during vaginal and anal sex. About 75 percent of sexually active people will get some type of HPV. It's a very common risk of having sex.
Hope this information helps!
Take care,
