Your Question:

Dear Experts,

at school i got kicked in the balls like really hard and i fell in front of everybody . i was in so much pain. can that affect me in any way. i felt kinda stupid bout it to what should i do? Thanx

pro_pete

The Answer:

Dear pro_pete,

It's common for guys to experience pain after being kicked or hit in the testicles ("balls"). The testicles are not protected by muscle or bone, so they are very sensitive. Usually, being kicked or hit in the testicles will not cause permanent damage, but it is possible that a severe injury could cause testicular rupture — when blood flows into the scrotum. Speak with a clinician if you experience any of the following symptoms:

  • pain in your testicles that lasts an hour or longer
  • extreme swelling
  • discoloration of the testicles
  • a puncturing of the scrotum sac or testicles
If you need an appointment with a clinician, call 1-800-230-PLAN to find a Planned Parenthood health center near you.

Hope this information helps!
