The uterus is a hollow, muscular organ that is about three inches long and weighs about two ounces. It is the shape of a small pear. In women who have had a baby, it may be about five inches long. During pregnancy, the capacity of the uterus can expand about 500 times. Its muscles become much stronger, and it grows in size and weight.
