Your Question:
Dear Experts,
if i have a wart on my hand and then i finger my girlfriend is she gonna get genital warts?

The Answer:
Dear splinter11,
No. In general, the kinds of warts that appear on the hands are caused by different types of viruses than the warts that appear on the genitals.
There are more than 100 different types of human papilloma virus (HPV). Some of them cause warts. Some do not. Some of the ones that cause warts develop on the skin of the hands. Some develop on the skin of the feet. Some develop in the areas around the genitals and may also develop in similarly moist areas of the mouth and throat. Others develop on other parts of the body.
The most important thing for sexually active people to keep in mind is that genital HPV can be transmitted through anal, oral, and vaginal sex, as well as skin-to-skin contact. Avoiding skin-to-skin contact with someone with HPV is the most effective way to prevent HPV infection. Using condoms for vaginal and anal intercourse can reduce the risk of transmission. To reduce risk during oral sex, use a condom to cover the penis or a Glyde damn to cover the vulva or anus.
Hope this information helps!
