Your Question:

Dear Experts,

I have a problem with blushing, mostly with guys that I like and even don't like. I feel like it keeps me back from a lot of things I want to do, even if it doesn't involve guys. How can I stop myself?

conphused2

The Answer:

Dear conphused2,

What you're experiencing is really common. Blushing is a normal physical response when someone gets embarrassed or angry, feels guilty, or experiences some other type of strong emotion.

Most people experience blushing at some point in their lives. But blushing — and especially chronic blushing — is so strong for some people that it negatively affects their quality of life.

Many times, chronic blushing is associated with social anxiety. Some people find that talking with a professional counselor or therapist about their feelings and anxieties can really help.

Other times chronic blushing may be associated with a medical condition, especially if the blushing is persistent or if it is associated with diarrhea, hives, or troubles with breathing. People who are experiencing these symptoms should talk to a health care provider.

Hope this information helps!

Take care,
