Your Question:
Dear Experts,
I am on Birth control and someone told me that even though I take the pill the way your suposed to their is one week a month when I could get pregnant. Is this true?

The Answer:
Dear starnght35,
No. When taken correctly, the pill protects against pregnancy throughout the entire month.
Combination pills come in 28-day or 21-day packs. In the 28-day pack, 21 pills are "active" they contain hormones that prevent pregnancy. The last seven pills in the pack of combination pills are called "reminder" pills. They do not contain hormones. They are taken during the fourth week, including during menstruation. Stay on schedule and the pill will provide protection during this week as well.
Remember, the pill offers no protection against sexually transmitted infections only condoms offer protection.
Hope this information helps!
