Your Question:
Dear Experts,
CAN A PREGNANT WOMAN OVULATE?
guapachica, 08.17.04
The Answer:
Dear guapachica,
No, pregnant women do not ovulate.
Here's how it works: Ovulation usually occurs about 14 days before a woman's period begins. After ovulation, if the egg is fertilized by sperm, the fertilized egg will implant itself to the lining of the uterus. Pregnancy begins when the implantation is complete.
Once pregnancy beings, a woman's body begins to release hormones to support the pregnancy and prevent ovulation and menstruation.
Hope this information helps!
