Your Question:
Dear Experts,
is there any thing i can do to prevent me from getting a yeast infection.
capitiller, 12.15.03
The Answer:
Dear capitiller, Yes! Yeast infections (also called candidiasis) are an overgrowth of bacteria that cause vaginal irritation or vaginitis. All healthy women have yeast in their vaginas, but sometimes this yeast grows too much. A yeast infection can develop because of the following: - not keeping the genital area clean
- using products that contain perfumes or oils that irritate the skin or don't wash off
You can help prevent a vaginal yeast infection by doing the following: - Avoid bath oils and bubble baths.
- Clean the genital area daily with warm water.
- Wipe from front to back after urination and bowel movement.
Avoid feminine deodorant sprays and douches. They irritate the vulva and vaginal areas.
