Your Question:

Dear Experts,

If your like 13 or 14 and you havent started your period yet and have sex, can you still get pregnant?

hotgurl_04

The Answer:

Dear hotgurl_04,

Yes. Here's how it works. A woman can become pregnant when she ovulates for the first time — when her ovaries begin to release eggs. Ovulation usually occurs about 14 days before a woman's period begins (although there's a chance that it may occur at any time during her cycle). So it's possible that a woman may ovulate and get pregnant before she gets her first period. Once a woman begins to ovulate, pregnancy can happen any time ejaculate or pre-ejaculate has been spilled in the vagina or on or near the vulva, up to six days before ovulation happens. This is because sperm can live up to six days in the woman's reproductive organs.

Hope this information helps!

Take care,
