The Answer:
Dear johndoe123,
Boys usually start puberty between 10 and 17 years old. It is common for puberty to start when boys are around 12 years old, though some may start a little sooner and others considerably later.
Some people grow sooner and have to deal with being taller and having acne before the rest of their friends. Others grow later and have to wait and watch their classmates change. Either way, it's important to remember that everyone goes through it, and it does settle down eventually. If things get confusing, find someone to talk to an older brother, your dad, or another man you trust. Chances are, they've felt the same way and might have some great advice.
There's no way to speed up the process of puberty, but if you're really concerned that something's wrong, you might want to speak with a clinician. Call 1-800-230-PLAN to be connected to the Planned Parenthood nearest you.
Hope this information helps!
