Your Question:
Dear Experts,
Last weekend my boyfriend and me were messing around and it was great. But afterwards he said something about my vagina being really wet. Is this ok, is it normal?

The Answer:
Dear skuttle,
Yes, it's totally normal. Getting wet is the way a woman's body responds to sexual excitement and desire. When a woman is sexually excited, blood flow increases to the genitals so that the vulva and clitoris swell and the vagina lubricates itself, which is called "getting wet." Being "wet" reduces friction and makes penetration more comfortable.
Another cause of "wetness" is female ejaculation. About 10 percent of women spurt a clear fluid from the urethra during intense sexual excitement or during orgasm the pleasurable release of built-up muscle tension that results from arousal and sexual activity.
Remember, it's totally normal for healthy girls and women to have a vaginal discharge that may show up on their underwear, whether or not they are sexually excited. Normal discharges are either thick and whitish or slippery and clear, depending on where you are in your menstrual cycle.
Hope this information helps!
Take care,
