Your Question:

Dear Experts,

I was just wondering if I am a lesbian because i don't think it is gross to kiss another girl. All of my friends that are girls think it is totally disgusiting for a girl to make out with another girl, but I don't think it is that gross. I don't think i would get any pleasure from making out with another girl, i just don't think it is that gross. I am very attracted to boys and love to do stuff with them and get turned on when i kiss them, but i don't think its that bad to kiss a girl. Please help!

The Answer:

Dear mals234,

Just because you aren't grossed out by the idea of girls kissing doesn't mean you are a lesbian.

In our society there is a lot of fear and hatred of people who are gay, lesbian, or bisexual. This fear is called homophobia. It is caused by ignorance, or other kinds of misinformation and lack of understanding about what gay, lesbian, and bisexual people are really like.

Being different from society's sexual norms can be very difficult in our culture. Most people who are homophobic are worried about their own sexuality and project that fear on others by acting cruel. Accepting people, and ourselves, for being who we are is exactly the right attitude!

Hope this information helps!

Take care,
