Can a girl become pregnant if you have sex in a swimming pool without a condom?

I heard that if you have sex in a pool or hot tub, that it could damage a girl or even kill her. Is this true?

Your Question:

Dear Experts,

Are condoms effective when use in water? Is there a special kind to use in water?

lids02

The Answer:

Dear lids02,

As long as they are used correctly and consistently, condoms are still effective in reducing the risk of pregnancy and many sexually transmitted infections when used in the water. However, it may be difficult to put a condom on correctly underwater. It may also be hard to tell if the condom slips off in the water.

Keep in mind that pregnancy is possible if semen or pre-cum gets into a woman's vagina during sex play — in the water or on dry land.

Hope this information helps!

Take care,
