Your Question:

Dear Experts,

I am a 17 year old girl, have a GREAT boyfriend, but seem to never want to mess around. I am hardly ever "horny". I don't have many sexual feelings towards anyone! Even stars and stuff. I'm seriously scared, because all my other teen and older friends are the total opposite of myself.
Any help would be great, thanks!

The Answer:

Dear rungal23,

People have different levels of sex drives — some have higher drives and some have lower. Some people would be happy to have sex every day and some people would be happy to have sex once a month or even less often. Many things can affect our sex drives. This can include stress, how comfortable we are with our partners, past sexual experiences, if we feel safe, if we are attracted to the person and many other factors in our lives.

If someone is really concerned about her or his lack of sexual arousal it might be a good idea to talk to a health care provider. To make an appointment at the nearest Planned Parenthood health center, call 1-800-230-PLAN.

Hope this information helps!

Take care,
