Your Question:

Dear Experts,

I read in here that guys can get yeast infections from girls and that if not treated it can be given back and forth. I was just wondering how a guy would get treated from a yeast infection and what symptoms they would have and how a doctor would be able to tell if they have it.

km_7

The Answer:

Dear km_7,

It's not possible a woman to transmit a yeast infection to a man. However, it is possible for a man to develop an overgrowth of yeast if the normal conditions of his urethra are changed. Often these changes are due to changes in the immune system. Sometimes these normal conditions are changed from having sexual intercourse.

Men with yeast infections may notice redness and irritation of the penis or scrotum.

Various creams can be used to treat an overgrowth of yeast both for men and women. Treatment is successful more than 90 percent of the time.

Hope this information helps!

Take care,
